Colony characteristics

Colonies (YPG, 30 days, 25◦C) raised, cream-coloured, butyrous, matted, smooth with some wrinkled areas; margin rhizoid and fringed.

Microscopy

Budding cells ovoidal, elongate or spherical, 4-9 × 3-4 µm, single, in pairs or in clusters, with multilateral budding. Pseudohyphae abundant; true hyphae occasionally present.

Pathogenicity

RG-1, BSL-1. Species originally isolated from soil. Shiomi et al. (2024) reported a fungemia in a patient with AML.
