Phaeoacremonium indicum Mostert et al.

Latest update: 15 October 2024

Colony characteristics

Colonies (MEA, 8 d, 25°C) reaching 3-4 mm diam, flat, felty, isabelline in obverse, sepia to brown vinaceous in reverse; margin entire.

Microscopy

Hyphae branched, septate, singly or in bundles, densely tuberculate with warts up to 3 µm diam, medium brown, 1.5–3.0 µm wide, with common inflated cells up to 6 µm in width. Conidiophores short, unbranched, mostly erect, up to 3-septate, ending in a terminal phialide, tuberculate in the lower part, 18–42 × 1.5–3.0 µm wide. Phialides often with several openings, smooth to verruculose, pale brown; collarettes, 1–2 µm long; type I phialides mostly cylindrical, 2.5–9.0 × 1–3 µm; type II phialides subcylindrical or navicular, 9–16 × 2–3 µm; occasional type III phialides present, subcylindrical, 16–24 × 1.5–3.5 µm. Conidia hyaline, reniform, 4.0–5.5 × 1.5–2.5 µm. Sexual state unknown.

Pathogenicity
