Case descriptionA 7-month-old male stray cat with hair loss and erythema at the extremity of the left forelimb Otherwise healthy
Cytology and/or histopathologyArthroconidia on infected hairs
Geographic origin of the animalEast of France
Etiologic agent and identification methodTrichophyton mentagrophytes / Culture on Sabouraud dextrose agar
Applied therapyThe cat was treated by a combination of oral itraconazole (5 mg/kg/day on an alternate week regimen, one week on and one week off, for 5 weeks) and topical enilconazole 0.2% (twice a week for 5 weeks)
OutcomeClinical cure was obtained at the end of the treatment
