Case description | A 7-month-old male stray cat with hair loss and erythema at the extremity of the left forelimb Otherwise healthy |
Cytology and/or histopathology | Arthroconidia on infected hairs |
Geographic origin of the animal | East of France |
Etiologic agent and identification method | Trichophyton mentagrophytes / Culture on Sabouraud dextrose agar |
Applied therapy | The cat was treated by a combination of oral itraconazole (5 mg/kg/day on an alternate week regimen, one week on and one week off, for 5 weeks) and topical enilconazole 0.2% (twice a week for 5 weeks) |
Outcome | Clinical cure was obtained at the end of the treatment |
