Case descriptionA 3-year-old, male, Groenendael dog with weight loss during the last year One sub-cutaneous nodule was observed on the nose (planum nasale) The dog presented neurological signs (ataxia, amaurosis, torticollis) with a progressive worsening in the last 2 months MRI scanner revealed a multifocal meningo-encephalomyelitis (cerebral trunk, cervical and thoracolumbar spinal cord) The hypothesis of dysimmunity disorder was first considered. Following the administration of immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids, a rapid degradation of the clinical signs (including bilateral uveitis and nephritis) was reported

In vitro antifungal susceptibilityAntifungal susceptibility (EUCAST): Fluconazole 4 mg/ml; Voriconazole 0.03 µg/ml; Posaconazole ≤ 0.016 µg/ml; Isavuconazole 0.125 µg/ml; Caspofungin >4 µg/ml; Micafungin 2 mg/ml; 5 flucytosin 4 µg/ml

Etiologic agent and identification methodCryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans / identification by mass spectrometry
OutcomeThe owners elected euthanasia due to poor prognosis. Necropsy examination revealed multifocal granuloma in the kidneys and lungs
