Case descriptionA 1.5-year-old, male, Dalmatian dog presented to the consultations of the veterinary college of Alfort, France but living in Quebec, Canada Clinical signs included uveitis and lameness associated with ulcerated cutaneous lesions on the right posterior leg Cough and fever were observed one month ago Thoracic radiograph revealed nodular and miliary interstitial patterns
Cytology and/or histopathologyLarge yeasts (10-15 µm) with a large budding base
Geographic origin of the animal
Quebec, Canada
Etiologic agent and identification methodBlastomyces dermatitidis / Cytology
Applied therapyOral itraconazole (5 mg/kg first and then 10 mg/kg once daily) for 3 months
Outcomeoral itraconazole (5 mg/kg first anEight weeks after initial consultation, the cutaneous lesions almost disappeared. No recurrence was observed during an 1 year follow-up period
