Case description | A 15-year-old male cat with hair loss and skin hyperpigmentation on the head and neck for several months Otherwise healthy |
Cytology and/or histopathology | Arthroconidia on infected hairs |
Geographic origin of the animal | Suburbs of Paris, France |
Etiologic agent and identification method | Trichophyton mentagrophytes / Culture on Sabouraud dextrose agar |
Applied therapy | The cat was treated by a combination of oral itraconazole (5 mg/kg/day on an alternate week regimen, one week on and one week off, for 2 months) and topical enilconazole (twice a week for 2 months) |
Outcome | No clinical cure could be obtained |
