Case descriptionA 3-year-old male Ragdoll cat with large and ulcerated nodules between the shoulders and on the dorso-lumbar region. The nodules were not pruritic or painful. They progressively developed during the last 6 months Otherwise healthy
Cytology and/or histopathologyMultifocal, nodular dermatitis with numerous, large, coalescing foci of pyo‐granulomatous inflammation surrounding multiple, irregular, basophilic hyphae‐like elements in a granular, faintly eosinophilic matrix (hyaline grains). These elements were strongly positive on Gomori Grocott staining.

Etiologic agent and identification methodMicrosporum canis / Culture on Sabouraud dextrose agar
OutcomeThe cat was euthanized due to poor response to systemic antifungal therapy (itraconazole)
