Colony characteristics
Colonies (PDA, 7 d, 25°C) attaining 6–7 mm diam, funiculose, olivaceous green, velutinous with some aerial mycelium, olivaceous green; margin fimbriate.
Microscopy
Hyphae subhyaline, up to 3 μm wide. Conidiophores erect, flexuous, geniculate in the apical part, smooth- and thick-walled, brown, septate, up to 360 μm long, 4-5 μm wide; basal cell sometimes swollen up to 6-8 μm diam. Conidiogenous cells integrated, sympodial, pale brown to brown, each with one or several darkened scars on the nodes. Conidia ellipsoidal, curved, middle cell swollen and dark brown, terminal cells paler, smooth, 20-28 × 8-11 μm, with three distosepta and basal, thickened hilum. Sexual state unknown.
Pathogenicity
RG-1, BSL-1. Originally described from a single strain causing a leaf spot on Egyptian crowfoot grass in Australia. A fatal rhinocerebral infection in a patient with a history of tuberculosis and chronic pulmonary aspergillosis was described by Samaddar et al. (2022).
