Colony characteristics

Colonies (PDA, 7 d, 25°C) reaching 23 mm, umbonate, velvety, greyish green; margin regular; reverse dull green. No pigment exuded into the agar.

Microscopy

Hyphae pale to dark brown, smooth- and thin-walled, 2–3 µm wide. Pycnidia dark brown, semi-immersed, solitary or confluent, (sub)spherical, 140–200 µm × 180–240 µm, with 1-3 ostioles 60–85 µm diameter per pycnidium. Setae arranged around the ostiolum, brown to dark brown, septate, erect, rounded at the tip, thick-walled, 75−160 µm × 2−3 µm. Pycnidial wall composed of three to five layers of cells, 10–20 µm thick, with an outer layer of textura angularis with brown, flattened, polygonal cells 3–4 µm in diam. Conidiogenous cells phialidic, inserted directly on inner pycnidium wall, ampulliform, 6–8 µm × 2.5–3.5 µm. Conidia one-celled, hyaline, smooth- and thin-walled, ellipsoidal, 3–4 µm × 2–3 µm. Chlamydospores absent. Sexual state unknown.

Pathogenicity

RG-1, BSL-1. Originally reported from plant debris in fresh water; its maximum growth temperature is around 30°C (Magaña-Dueñas et al., 2017). Řehulka et al. (2023) reported an infection in a farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
